You’ve got the best of both worlds at Chalet Jamoo, which is situated in the pretty village of Entremont, between the ski stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand. The chalet is just a minute’s walk from the village, which has a ski hire shop, an auberge serving good food, and an excellent boulangerie, where you can pick up fresh croissants and baguettes. Children and their parents will appreciate the large flat garden, which is a safe place to play all year round. Less than an hour from Geneva airport, Chalet Jamoo is a great base for exploring the Grand Bornand ski area, while providing a quiet refuge for you to come home to.
You’ll feel immediately at home at Chalet Jamoo, which has been thoughtfully furnished with a mix of old and new pieces. Sleeping ten people in four comfortable bedrooms, all of which have their own individual style, the accommodation is conveniently all on one floor. A woodburning stove means the open plan living area is always warm and cosy, and the soft sofas are a great place to curl up at end of day. There’s a large dining table where you can enjoy a meal together while you plan the next day, but in the summer, the spacious terrace is a great place to enjoy a barbecue and the glorious views. Free wifi is provided if you want to keep in touch with home, or maybe just to check the weather and the latest snow conditions.
Just 10 minutes away from La Clusaz or Le Grand Bornand, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it come to planning your day’s skiing. Both areas are covered by a single Aravis ski pass, which offers more than 200km of pistes. A ski bus links the two resorts, both of which offer free parking, as well as a good selection of restaurants where you can regroup at the end of the day. There are great trails for cross-country skiers and snow-shoe walkers at the Confins and Glieres plateaus. Non-skiers can try horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice-skating, para-gliding or hot air ballooning or just relax in the heated outdoor pool at La Clusaz, as the snow falls around you.
The Aravis mountains make a fantastic natural playground during the summer months. A map of hiking and mountain bike trails is available from tourist offices in La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, and ski lifts mean you can enjoy the high altitudes without the hard work! Pack a picnic, or eat al fresco at the mountain restaurants which offer good food and spectacular views. Thrill seekers can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata or white-water rafting, but if you’d like to take it easy, get another view of La Clusaz from a horse-drawn carriage, lie back in the heated open-air pool as the mountains tower above, or enjoy a barbecue on the sunny terrace at your luxury Chalet Jamoo.
Set in a quiet village, Chalet Jamoo is under 10 minutes from all the action of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand. Both villages have tourist information offices and weekly markets, ideal for picking up fresh local produce such as Reblochon cheese and local meats. Thônes, just 15 minutes away, has a couple of larger supermarkets. The medieval lakeside town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away by car and is a must for a day out, whatever the season, with its unique mix of restaurants, shops and museums. In the summer it’s a great place for golf and water sports, or hire a boat and explore some of the quiet lakeside beaches. Whatever you do, you can be sure of an unforgettable holiday.

“Being mad skiers we were initially looking for a chalet in the Chamonix valley, but then we got the details of Chalet Jamoo in Entremont, more an old farmhouse than a traditional Chalet, and just a stones throw from Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz. As we left the motorway, just 30 minutes from Geneva Airport, we carved our way up into the mountains through the spectacular Gorge de Borne, where after another 30 minutes the mountains opened up to reveal the stunning Entremont valley. As we drove up the driveway to the house, we were greeted with open fields and orchard to one side, and stunning mountain views to the other. We new then.... that this was the place.
Walking through the door into the spacious open plan living/kitchen area we were struck by the beautiful charm of this old farmhouse. With a large wood-burning stove and a wealth of old beams we could imagine ourselves sitting around the fire after a big days skiing. 6 weeks later with all our furniture installed and a champagne glass in hand that’s exactly what we were doing!!
We’ve since discovered it’s a great family house with so much space both inside and out. Its elevated position gives us wonderful views across the valley to the village church and the mountains beyond. We also have one of those rare things in the mountains - a huge flat area of garden !! which is the perfect safe playground for children. The local Boulangerie is literally at the bottom of our drive, it’s just a few minutes walk to get the warm, fresh baguette and croissants every morning ... the perfect way to start your day. We are also very lucky to have our very own Ski Shop at the bottom of the drive, it’s run by Serge and he has a great selection of Skis and Boots available for rental.
We love all the seasons at Chalet Jamoo - summertime is so beautiful with the wild flowers in the fields surrounding us. The kids like to play down at the River Bourne, which runs through the village, whilst we watch the world go by over a coffee at little Tabac just at the bottom of the hill, a legendary place with close historical links to the French Resistance!! Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz are both under 10 minutes drive from us, and both offer lots of activities for all ages. We love visiting the weekly markets to buy fresh fruit and veg ... and soak up the atmosphere!!
There are many activities in the villages to keep you entertained no matter the time of year. In the Summer months we have discovered some awesome mountain biking... the resorts have opened up their lift systems to access the most amazing downhill biking ... there are trails for every ability, but they all share the same experience ... the stunning views. We are only 30 minutes from the crystal clear, warm waters of Lake Annecy. The stunning glacial fed lake is the backdrop for the many restaurants and bars that are scattered along the shoreline. We particularly love the laid back atmosphere, as we soak up those long lazy summer days. In winter the whole valley is transformed into a winter wonderland and our back garden is the perfect playground for the kids.
We are lucky to be only 10 minutes drive from both Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz ski areas which both offer great skiing, ski de fond and snow shoeing. In the evening, after a hard day on the slopes we love coming home to the Chalet - lighting the big wood-burning fire and sitting around to share the days adventures over a bottle or two of local wine. If we ever feel like venturing out there is a great restaurant in Entremont called the Auberge which is only a 5 minute walk from the house or sometimes we will go to La Clusaz or Le Grand Bornand to eat at one of the many restaurants there. It’s very hard to decide which is my favourite time of year at Chalet Jamoo – Its such a special place all year round.”
